Hello everyone!

I’ve been exploring AI companion apps and noticed a fascinating divide: some folks love diving into the intricate details of character creation, while others prefer the simplicity and convenience of picking a preset. I’m quite new to this and would love to hear your thoughts.

On one hand, there’s the thrill of customizing every aspect of your AI’s personality, appearance, and even backstory. It makes the interaction feel personal and unique. But on the flip side, this can be overwhelming for newcomers. It’s like being handed a blank canvas when you’ve never painted before.

On the other hand, presets offer a quick start. You select a character that already has an established personality, and you’re ready to go. But does this mean you lose that personal touch or deep connection?

So, community, what do you think? Is the depth of character creation worth the time investment, or do presets offer everything one might need without the fuss? I’d love to hear your experiences and insights.

Interesting angle! From what I see, detailed character creation appeals to those who like a more immersive experience. They want to see the AI evolve according to their input. But it can indeed get messy, especially if you change your mind halfway through.

For me, it's easier to start with a preset. It helps avoid choice paralysis. Plus, less data input means less privacy concern upfront. Once I feel comfortable, I might tweak things gradually.

Presets are great for starting out, but they can feel generic after a while. They don't always sustain longer interactions. After the initial excitement, some users find themselves craving more depth.
